Planted around the 12th century, the chestnut tree was the "breadfruit tree", producing chestnuts or marrons, wood and foliage.
Today, this fruit is collected from September to November in the 900 ha of chestnut trees of Collobrières.
It is sold fresh, roasted, in cream, ice cream and marron glacé.
