Our Tourist Office has been approved for the Classification of Furnished Accommodation since 2011.
The classification is established from 1 to 5 stars.Furnished accommodation is classified by decision of a classification body (approved or accredited organization) on the basis of national classification criteria relating to:
- Equipment and facilities (general layout, surface areas, bedrooms and bedding, sanitary facilities, kitchen, external environment, general condition and cleanliness)
- Guest services
- Accessibility and sustainable development
(Criteria set out in the decree of August 02, 2010 setting standards and procedures for the classification of furnished accommodation, modified by the decree of 24/11/2021).
The standards are based on a system of compulsory and optional points; the furnished accommodation must obtain at least 95% of the compulsory points for its category, and a number of optional points defined according to the category requested and the characteristics of the furnished accommodation.
The Classification Procedure
- Step 1: The owner contacts the inspection body to apply for classification
- Step 2: The inspection body sends the classification procedure, as well as the regulatory documents required for a classification application, i.e. a Cerfa form, an order form and a description sheet. The classification reference guide is also given to the rental company, so that it can determine the category for which it wishes to be classified.
- Stage 3: On receipt of the elements listed above, completed and signed by the owner or his representative, the inspection body undertakes to carry out the visit within 3 months. An appointment with the owner or his representative is scheduled for the classification visit, and an e-mail or letter confirming the appointment is sent.
- Step 4 : The inspection visit is carried out by a technical reference and/or a deputy, who check that the criteria are complied with (cf. classification guidelines). The inspection visit lasts between 1 and 3 hours.
- Step 5: Once the visit has been carried out, the tourist office has 1 month to send the file to the owner with the classification decision (including the "Grille de contrôle", "Le rapport de contrôle" and the "Décision de classement" for the category indicated in the inspection report). This is sent in the format defined by the organization: digital or paper.
- Step 6: The owner has 15 days from receipt of the inspection certificate to refuse the classification proposal. The complaint procedure is available on request. On expiry of this period, and in the absence of a refusal, classification is acquired for a period of 5 years. The owner can use the "Décision de Classement" document to inform the authorities (tax authorities, etc.), customers, reservation platforms, institutional bodies, etc. of his classification
- Step 7: All bodies responsible for inspecting furnished tourist accommodation are required to register classified properties in a national database. In accordance with the French Data Protection Act, owners and/or agents have the right to access and rectify data concerning them. (CNIL declaration n°1510058). http://www.cnil.fr/vos-responsabilites/.
The visit is limited to the premises for which classification is requested.
The visit will be carried out as soon as possible and within 3 months at the latest.
Our organization undertakes not to make the classification application conditional on any membership or marketing offer. Classification is voluntary and independent of any membership fee or label.
