The vineyards of this terroir denomination are located between the Mediterranean, the relief of the Massif des Maures and the limestone plateaus of the central Var. 12 communes (in whole or in part) are included in the delimited Côtes de Provence Pierrefeu area: Carnoules, Carqueiranne, Collobrières, Cuers, La Crau, La Farlède, La Garde, La Valette, Le Pradet, Pierrefeu-du-Var, Puget-Ville and Solliès-Pont. Temperature variations are moderate and summer and spring temperatures are high. The altitude of the vineyard is less than 400 metres.
The soils in this area fall into 3 main categories: the red sandy-clay soils characteristic of the Permian Depression, the stony soils (limestone pebbles) with a red sandy-clay matrix of the plain and the brown-red silty-clay soils covered with schistose pebbles of the slopes.
