Var Accessible" qualification in a nutshell
The "Var Accessible" qualification is an initiative launched in 2012 by ADT Var Tourisme and the Var Departmental Council to qualify tourist sites and services in accordance with the needs of customers with disabilities, according to specifications drawn up in parallel with the law on accessibility of February 11, 2005.
The objectives of Var Accessible :
- To identify service providers committed to accessibility, meeting all or part of the requirements of the 2005 law, at least for a single type of disability,
- Serve as a springboard for structures to obtain the "Tourisme & Handicap" label,
- Increase the number of qualified and accessible structures in the département,
- Harmonize the accessible offer throughout the Var.
Qualification is the first stage in a service provider's commitment to accessibility.
Qualification is awarded following a Var Accessible departmental commission, for at least one type of disability, if at least 85% of the criteria in the specifications are met.
Var Accessible qualification is awarded for a period of 5 years.
Who is eligible for "Var Accessible" certification?
All tourist establishments wishing to promote their accessibility.
Qualification is free of charge.
Who is eligible for the "Var Accessible" qualification?
The Var Accessible qualification is aimed at people with disabilities who experience hearing, mental, motor or visual difficulties on a daily basis, as well as people with temporary disabilities or the elderly. The people who accompany disabled people are concerned by this qualification, and often know about it.
