Presentation
Head towards the hamlet of La Portanière. Join the small square in the centre of the hamlet. Leave the square and turn left after 100 m. Follow the Real Martin river until you reach the Vidaux ford. Continue straight ahead along the path through the vineyards. At the end of the vineyards, climb the small path on the right, like a mound in the undergrowth, to find a wider track above it that leads back up to the Périers track.
At the crossroads of the tracks (189 on the map), take the one on the right which descends until you find the Maraval valley, then climb it to the cabane des gardes. Continue straight on until you come to a hairpin bend, then take the Saute track to the Cabane des Gardes, where you can have a picnic.
Take the Camargues track down to the tarmac road (hamlet of Davids on the left). Cross the road and take the path opposite the GR. Follow the GR through the vineyards to a collet, and a path on the left to reach La Portanière.
