Immerse yourself in the teeming universe of Jean Dubuffet and his contemporaries with a guided tour of the 2025 exhibition. A major figure of the post-war period, Dubuffet introduced Art Brut, a movement freed from traditional codes, which he exhibited widely while developing a radically innovative pictorial style.
At the same time, the CoBrA movement emancipated itself from abstraction to reinvent raw, instinctive artistic expression. In the 1950s, Michel Tapié, art critic and close associate of Dubuffet, formalized the notion of "art autre", advocating a form of creation freed from convention, almost parallel to the real world.
This effervescence gave rise to unique works by marginal, visionary and unclassifiable artists, who would have a lasting impact on contemporary art.
Artists exhibited : Dubuffet, Alechinsky, Aloïse, Atlan, Baj, Baya, Bettencourt, Boix-Vives, Carmeil, Chaissac, Constant, Corneille, Dado, Dereux, Fièvre, Hantaï, Jorn, Lindström, Macréau, Maryan, Michaux, Ramon.
